Shakeology

My Story---

There are so many great reasons to drink Shakeology. For each person, their needs and their results will be different. Here is my story--

I originally drank the GNC Go Lean meal replacement shakes. I used them as an on-the-go snack option. I hated how they tasted, so chalky! I felt like they were a healthy option and I wanted to get as many nutrients into my body as possible. I was single at the time and lived off of cereal, egg whites, and Chipotle. :) I felt like these shakes were not really helping me, but I bought into their marketing and kept consuming them.

A few months later, I saw my friend post on her Facebook (now my upline coach :) ) how she did a 3-Day Shakeology cleanse and has such fantastic results (Will post about the cleanse later). I was so impressed with her story that I immediately ordered enough for the cleanse myself. After waiting in much anticipation, I received my shakes and immediately got nervous about how they would taste!

I blended it with some unsweetened almond milk and ice and BAM! was it delicious compared to what I was previously drinking! This put all other protein shakes to shame. Convinced that there was going to be a lot of weird ingredients and sweeteners in it, I looked at the label...

To my surprise, there were a lot of weird ingredients! haha A whole bunch of superfoods that I had heard of but to this day have a hard time pronouncing :) What was the weirdest? Wheat grass. Here I was, a 22 year old girl and I felt like such a yuppie..wheat grass!? And the sweeteners, all natural and the shake itself is low on the glycemic index. I was so puzzled. It tasted like dessert! I mean, it's not a Frosty from Wendy's, but it's damn near close.

I started drinking it to aid in my weight loss journey and to improve my intake of micronutrients. I knew I wasn't eating a diet dense in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. After drinking the shake consistently, I started to notice a real change in my HEALTH. Yes, I did lose some weight and I had more energy, too. However, I also reversed my iron deficiency and have YET to suffer from a sinus infection.

Six months prior to drinking Shakeology, I was in my specialist's office discussing the option of a surgery to fix my deviated septum. He was convinced that my deviation was causing my sinus infections and I also suffered from very consistent nose bleeds. I was getting an average of 6 sinus infections a year since I've been 13. No allergies and otherwise healthy. But, taking antibiotics and feeling miserable for about 10-12 weeks a year. I knew I needed the surgery. I was sick of being sick. I told him I wanted to wait at least a year before going under the knife--only because of my fear of operations and blood and everything associated with it!

I'm so thankful that I waited. Who knows, I may need to have that conversation again with my doctor in the future. But for now, I'm sticking with drinking nutrient-dense super foods that nourish my body at the cellular level. Our bodies are so miraculous and do so much for us, why wouldn't we fuel them with the power they need to excel?
